Things parents want to know

What ages does Legendary Tales work for? expand_more
Stories are calibrated for children aged 2 to 10. The sweet spot is 3 to 8, where the story length and vocabulary match a natural read-aloud session. For toddlers (2 to 3), stories are short and sensory with simple characters. For older children (8 to 10), they are longer with more plot, dialogue, and complexity. You tell us the age and the writing adjusts automatically.
Is there a free trial? expand_more
Yes. The first seven days are free. A full story arrives every night during the trial, exactly as it would on a paid subscription. If you cancel before the trial ends, you are not charged.
Do I need an app or special device? expand_more
No. The story arrives as a standard email to whichever address you signed up with. Open it on any phone, tablet, or computer. There is nothing to download or install.
How personalised are the stories really? expand_more
Each story uses your child's name, weaves in their current interests, and is written for their age. If they love dinosaurs and football, those two things will appear together in unexpected ways. It is not a template with names swapped in: the whole plot is built around the profile you set. Add multiple interests and they will intertwine across different stories.
How does it work with more than one child? expand_more
When you add multiple children, every night's story weaves in elements from each child's profile into one shared adventure. All the names, interests, and personalities appear together in the same story. Your children become characters in the same tale, and the story is written so each one feels seen.
Will it send the same story twice? expand_more
No. Every story is generated fresh each day. You will not get repeats, because each one is written from scratch rather than drawn from a fixed library. After hundreds of stories, your child will still be hearing something new every night.
How long is each story? expand_more
Roughly 5 to 8 minutes to read aloud, depending on age. Stories for younger children (2 to 4) are shorter and more rhythmic. Stories for older children (7 to 10) are longer with more plot, sub-characters, and dialogue. The length adjusts automatically based on the ages in your profile.
What if a story seems scary or not quite right? expand_more
Flag it directly from the email with one click. The system notes what did not work and adjusts future stories. You can also update your child's profile to note specific things to avoid, such as scary characters, loud conflict, or anything else. If you flag something, the next story will feel noticeably different.
What time does the story arrive? expand_more
Stories arrive at 6pm in your local timezone, every night. You set your timezone when you sign up, and you can update it any time from your dashboard. The delivery time itself is fixed at 6pm, chosen to land right as bedtime begins.
What does the story actually look like when it arrives? expand_more
It is a standard email with a subject line like "Tonight's story for [child's name]." The full story is in the body of the email. There is nothing to click through, log in to, or download. Open it, and start reading.
Can I go back and read old stories? expand_more
Yes. Every story sent to you is saved in your archive, accessible any time from your dashboard. You can browse, search, and re-read past stories whenever you like.
What if the story does not arrive? expand_more
Check your spam or promotions folder first, since email providers occasionally filter new senders. Mark the sender as trusted to prevent it happening again. If a story is genuinely missing, contact us at hello@legendarytales.club and we will look into it.
Can I pause if we are on holiday or need a break? expand_more
Yes. Pause delivery from your dashboard at any time. Stories stop arriving until you resume. Your subscription continues during the pause. Resume whenever you are ready and delivery picks up immediately.
Can I change my child's interests as they change? expand_more
Yes, any time from your dashboard. Changed overnight from dinosaurs to pirates? Update their profile and the next story reflects it. Stories are generated from the current profile at the time they are sent, so updates take effect immediately.
What happens when I cancel? expand_more
You can cancel at any time from your dashboard. You will not be charged again after cancellation, and stories continue until the end of your current billing period. No awkward retention flows or hidden steps.
Is this AI-written? Are there human writers? expand_more
Stories are generated by the Claude AI model. There are no human writers authoring individual stories. The system is designed to write in a warm, age-appropriate style with proper narrative structure, but it is AI, and we think it is important to be straightforward about that rather than imply otherwise.
What happens to my child's data? expand_more
Your child's profile (their name, age, and interests) is used only to write that night's story. It is not shared with third parties, used for advertising, or passed to any other service. You can delete the profile at any time from your dashboard.
Does the AI see my child's date of birth? expand_more
No. You enter a date of birth so we can track your child's age accurately over time, but the raw birthday is never sent to the AI. The story generator receives only the calculated age (for example, 'age 7') along with the child's first name and interests. Nothing more specific than that is ever shared with the AI model.
Is there actual evidence that bedtime reading makes a difference? expand_more
Yes, and it is substantial. A 2019 study from Ohio State University calculated that children read one picture book per day hear approximately 78,000 more words each year than those who are never read to. Over five years before kindergarten, that compounds to a 1.4 million word gap. Separate research published in Sleep Medicine Reviews found that reading as part of a bedtime routine is associated with faster sleep onset, stronger language development, and better emotional regulation in young children.
